Greetings,
I am happy to invite you to show your pride and solidarity at Toronto’s Pride events this weekend. By participating you can join the celebration at one of the world’s largest Pride festivals and show Toronto that our union is truly a union for everyone. Unifor members are united in the call to end homophobia and transphobia.
There are many events happening, but I want to encourage you to join LGBTQ members and allies this weekend on June 22, 23 and 24. Please distribute widely to fellow activists.
Look for the Unifor flags to find your union family at these events.
Trans March – Friday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m.
Meet at Church and Hayden streets, look for the flags
All Trans people, friends and LGBTQ allies are welcome. The march goes along Bloor to Yonge, to Carlton streets ending at Allen Gardens
Dyke March – Saturday, June 23 at 1:00 p.m.
Meet on Church Street just south of Bloor Street at 12:30 p.m. for the rally.
This grassroots march will go down Yonge Street to Carlton Street, and into Allan Gardens, concluding with a community rally featuring queer local artists, performers, poets and activists.
PRIDE Parade – Sunday, June 24
Meet the marching contingent by 1:30 p.m. Parade starts at 2:00 p.m.
Meet us on Bloor Street at St. Paul’s Square.
To ensure Unifor’s contingent is loud and proud, we need you there! We will march and dance alongside a colourful float. Come early with your friends and family to get your Unifor pride t-shirt. Our limited quantities will go fast!
Don’t forget a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes and your Local flag.
I hope to see you this weekend!
In solidarity,
Josephine Petcher
