Unifor Locals 6004, 6005, 6006, 6007, 6008 and 37

Sisters and Brothers,
We wish you a Happy New Year and hope you have enjoyed some time with your friends and family.
As the Bargaining Committee met with Bell in Toronto during the week of December 18, you showed great solidarity and strength.
On December 19th the full Bargaining Caucus, with representatives from locals across Ontario and Quebec, and National President Jerry Dias, Québec Director Renaud Gagné and Ontario Regional Director Naureen Rizvi joined the Bargaining Committee for negotiations on our key issues of job erosion and wages. Bell was told in no uncertain terms that Unifor members are demanding stronger job protection in this round of negotiations.
These clear voices in our negotiation sessions were amplified by each of you wearing red at work, by the flags that you signed and by the many actions, social media posts and events that have marked this round of bargaining.

Hands off workers’ wages & benefits!

  •  The Tim Hortons corporation dictates virtually every detail of the franchise-owner’s business practice.
  •  It even stipulates the required net worth (at least $1.5 million) of any potential franchise owner.
  • As the supplier of Tim Hortons products, the corporation sets the price of everything from sugar to its pre-cooked donuts. It’s clear the parent corporation has the power to fully restore workers’ wages, benefits and working conditions.

  • The Ontario’s new labour laws were intended to improve the wages and working conditions of employees – especially those at the lowest rungs of the income ladder.
  •  Demand that Restaurant Brands International (RBI) take whatever steps necessary to ensure that its company and Tim Hortons franchise owners respect the spirit of the new laws. Call RBI on 905 845 6511
